It Is Time!
The long, national nightmare is finally over. It’s time to begin the celebration.
No, I’m not talking about last week’s “release” of the Mueller Report. I’m talking about something that millions of people can get behind and get excited about.
I’m talking about the beginning of the baseball season!
In cities all over the country, the first official baseball games of the 2019 Major League Baseball season will be played. There’s a slightly different feel to it this year.
It’s not the traditional Monday day game in Cincinnati. It’s not the solo Sunday Night Baseball feature on ESPN. It’s a Thursday at the end of March. Technically speaking, the season started last week when the Mariners and A’s met in Japan, with the Mariner’s winning both games and jumping out to an early lead on the best record in baseball (spoiler alert: it won’t last).
All in all, though, it doesn’t matter. TODAY is Opening Day.
I’m already decked out in my Cardinal gear, literally head to toe. The bratwurst are sitting in the fridge at home. Unfortunately, I’ll be on the second year of not drinking Ommegang’s Rare Vos on Opening Day, as I can’t seem to find it anywhere within 100 miles of where I live, but I’ll find another frosty adult beverage to take it’s place.
Over the next few days, I’ll be publishing my 2019 MLB season previews for each division, starting later today with the AL East. So, check back later for those, and…
Play ball!
